The unusual combination of clarinet, viola and piano creates alluring sonority, timbre, and atmosphere. Mozart, whose music really introduced the clarinet to concert repertoire, is credited with composing the first work ever combining these three instruments, followed by Schumann, Reinecke, and Bruch.
