Popular and regular guests in our series, Jade Quartet, return with another intriguing programme. Mendelssohn’s 1838 Quartet No 5 is the centrepiece of their programme. Painter, poet, pianist and composer, Mendelssohn was a multi-talented artist and this quartet shows something of his painter’s ability with instrumental colour. This great quartet shares billing with Wellington orchestral trombonist and composer Julien Kirgan Baez’ new work “Serpentine” and Claire Scholes’ short piece “Jade” which was received with great enthgusiasm at its recent premiere.
